Drop-in Class Schedule
Types of Classes
- African Modern Dancing: A modern styled movement heavily influenced by African teachings. This dance form is energetic and responsive. It promotes excitement and stimulates the mind. The discipline of the form sculpts the body and increases core strength. Afromod is not just a dance class and a way to exercise, its an experience.
- Beginning Belly Dancing: In this delightful class, we will practice the basic vocabulary of Middle Eastern movement: isolations, shimmies, traveling, turns, beautiful arms, and finger cymbals. Includes improvisation and a simple choreography that we build upon each week.
- Forrest Yoga Basics: A slow-paced class with detailed alignment instruction and demonstration. Forrest yoga is intense, mindful yoga that builds flexibility and strength. This class is essential for beginners, while advanced students can use it to deepen their practice.
- Forrest Yoga 1: A moderately paced class with detailed alignment instruction and demonstration. Students should be familiar with Forrest Basics classes or have experience with another yoga style.
- Forrest Yoga 2: Through asanas and breath work, this class tests limits and cultivates physical and emotional transformations. Students should be familiar with Forrest Basics classes or have experience with another yoga style.
- Forrest Intensive: A strong practice designed to allow intermediate and advanced students a space to deepen their practice, and to take more responsibility for it. Students should be familiar with Forrest 2 classes.
- Hatha Yoga: Explores the foundation postures of yoga through clear directions. Hatha classes promote strength, flexibility and balance without strain.
- Jivamukti Basics: Introduces yoga asana, one category each week: standing, twisting, forward bending, backbending, balancing, and inversion. We will discover how these physical forms emerge from the essence of the breath. Props, partner adjustment, and imagery will help us investigate structural alignment and energy flow. Appropriate for absolute beginners and those who wish to revisit fundamentals.
- Movement Improvisation: Have fun while learning to express yourself and connect with others through movement. Explore new ways of moving, group movements to strengthen our class community, techniques to share your personal story through movement. No dance or improvisation experience necessary.
- Pilates: Focuses on the core muscles that balance the body, awareness of breath and alignment of the spine. Can help ease or prevent back pain. Studio 34 also offers private and semi-private sessions, with an array of specialized equipment. More information...
- Very Beginner Yoga: This Community Class is for the tentative student with limited mobility due to physical, medical or lifestyle circumstances. You don't need to be able to touch your toes; you just have to be willing to try.
- Vinyasa Yoga: Uses the flow between poses to cultivate physical and emotional openings.
- Yoga Dance: This yoga-dance class uses equal parts movement, breath, and the steady beat of the music to play. To explore. To sweat. And to eventually bring it all back home to the heart. Music informs dance sequences, inversions, and back bends. Students should have experience with yoga or dance.
