Lunden Abelson is a psychotherapist and Dance/Movement Therapist in Philadelphia with seven years of therapeutic experience working as a therapist with individuals, families and groups. Lunden received her degrees from Antioch New England Graduate School and The University of Massachusetts, Amherst.

Before getting a degree, Lunden worked with trauma survivors and domestic assault survivors and their children as well as in prison with incarcerated women. After getting her degree, she began working with preschool and latency age children with Autism at the The Center for Autism, and then at the Kardon Institute for Arts Therapy with adults living with Autism and Mental Retardation. She returned to working with domestic abuse and sexual violence at Women Organzied Against Rape as a child and adult counselor. While employed at WOAR, Lunden was responsible for creating and implementing Building Blocks, a treatment approach for toddlers who have been impacted by sexual abuse. Lunden has also worked for a number of years at Creative Arts for Everyone, a therapeutic program to support families during supervised visitation.

At this time Lunden is employed at the Drexel College of Medicine in the Caring Together Program.

Lunden has five years of experience providing professional supervision for aspiring Dance/Movement Therapists. Lunden has served on the board for the Pennsylvania Chapter of Dance/Movement Therapists for 6 years and is currently the board president. Lunden is currently on the board of Girls Leadership Camp.

Lunden also provides professional trainings on issues related to play therapy, dance/movement therapy, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, child sexual assault, sexual assault and the impact of trauma on an individual and family.

services/modalities

Therapeutic services provided are individual, couples, family and group psychotherapy and dance/movement therapy by appointment.

I work with individuals across the life span: infants, children, adolescents, adults and seniors.

Fees

My standard fee for Individual, Couple and Family Therapy Services is $90 an hour.

I believe money should not get in the way of people’s health and well being therefore I have a sliding scale. Please contact me to discuss payment options.

At this time I do not accept payment from insurance.
