Philly photogs: gather up your best local shots and submit them to Phillyist Framed 2010. The good folks at Phillyist will pick around 30 for display here at Studio 34, and then, at the Opening Night Gala on Friday, January 29, 2010, their phenomenal guest judges will award 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners. Everyone is invited to the party, and the photos will stay on display here for a week.
Read the official rules here, then submit your pics by Dec. 30 to the Phillyist Framed 2010 Flickr Group.
Phillyist says: “Our brilliant and fantastic judges for the evening will be:
- John Berry—From Temple University graduate to award-winning editor/photographer, John is the online and photo editor for the Times Herald, serving Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. This local boy-made-good has been recognized by both the Pennsylvania Associated Press Managing Editors and the Philadelphia Press Association.
- Kyle Cassidy, brilliant photographer and local West Philly guy, has signed on to be our fourth judge. If you’re not familiar with Kyle, he’s won awards for his book Armed America: Portraits of Gun Owners in Their Homes and created photo magic with Neil Gaiman for Who Killed Amanda Palmer?. His work has appeared everywhere, The New York Times, Vanity Fair, Marie Claire, Gothic Beauty.
- Michael Alan Goldberg—A prolific photographer and music journalist for publications such as Philly Weekly and Spin Magazine, Michael is also the current house photographer for WXPN/World Cafe Live. Michael is no stranger to photography exhibitions as his amazing work has been featured at several solo and gallery shows throughout the years.
- Charlie Ripper—You may remember Charlie from a Phillyist feature a couple of weeks back. Alt-art brainiac and pin-up maven, she’s the beautiful and talented art director/executive producer of Charlie’s Rippers 2010 Pin-Up Calendar.
And special bonus: “We’re partnering with Philabundance. We love our city. But, it’s winter. And it’s a recession. People are hungry. Since our photo exhibit is celebrating Philadelphia and its people, so we want to make sure that as many people as possible are safe and warm and fed. To that end, we’re inviting everyone to bring non-perishable food items to the Opening, and make a day brighter.”
